Well, GV isn't a forward that's all I know. I also know that he's a great player who will run this team. However, unlike years past, I don't think this team will go as GV goes. If he has a rough game, there are enough guys on this team that can step up to fill the void. This should make GV even better at whatever position he is playing. I have a good feeling that he knows this and will be able to calm his game to the point of making solid decisions and being an asset every time down the court. Should be a fun year.

This season would be the first season since his freshman year that he'd have a 'big' that can catch the ball in traffic, be a threat to score inside (which should open up some outside shots for our perimiter players) and set meaningful picks. That should lead to more consistency since he shouldn't feel the need to do it all. But I'm with ya Claven...it's all about the ranking at the end of the season...constant steady improvement is something we'd all applaud.

Andy Katz interviewed Greivis. GOOD STUFF in this interview. It's slightly more than half way down the article though http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entry...

First of all, I'm more interested in how he ranks at the end of the season.

This isn't a knock on Greivis, but this showed me the cupboard nationally is a little bare at SG. It seems like one of those in between years where there aren't many elite returning upperclassman at SG. I suppose this is partly because guards develop earlier and run to the NBA in a hurry. Regardless of the competition, I'm excited to see if he can develop into a more consistent player who can control his passion.

Is he a point guard? is he a shooting guard? Personally, I have always thought of him as more of a shooting guard. I know he wants to be a point guard...and I suppose he worked on his PG skills over the past 18 months...but I think he has the body of a shooting guard. The thing is this; if he develops his PG skills even more, he becomes so valuable...he just ain't that quick...but neither is Eric Hayes, right?

Speaking of which, I heard that Eric hurt his toe...is this true? That will be a bummer...but I suppose, if Hayes toes changes his game for the worse, it gives either Mosley, Bowie or Tucker (especially Tucker) to cement a place in the starting 5...

I do hope Eric's toes are fine. We need him to show us more of what we saw at the end of last season this year.

So Burney is gone, huh? poor kid. I wish him good luck. Here is hoping that the starting 5 (Hayes, Milbourne, Vas, Gregory & Bowie) shine like hell...and here is hoping that the next 5 in line (Padgett, J-Dub, Tucker, Mosley, JSC & Goins) give us a deep bench...shit, we could be like michigan State, only better.

3 weeks to Midnight Madness! I am so fucking tired of waiting. GO TERPS!

At this point, I don't see it happening. But last night I had a dream that I was reading Zagsblog and he had a story about Harris cutting down his list to UConn, UK, Louisville, Maryland, Tennessee and Syracuse.

Heck, I'd settle for GW saying something dismissive like "well, if it was on Turtle Soup then you know it must be true". THAT would be awesome!

Since the football and basketball teams support all other sports, it is very important to RF that people come out to watch the games. Maybe as important as wins.

I like this last entry..

• Offering prizes for best "opponent-specific cheer" at games to encourage students not to be lewd. The report said students should be "effective and creative."

Good luck with that. Dudes, guess what?!?! I just won a prize for best oppenent-specific cheer!!! You rock dude!

Yes, it was noble of DeCourcy to post here and minorly impresive that Turtle Soup got his attention. (We'll know Turtle Soup has hit the big time when GW feels the need to post.)

I still disagree with DeCourcy's logic. GV is the Terps' PG. It's been that way for a season and a half. GV even played PG for Venezuala at the Olympics and again this summer, so there is really no doubt about it. GV is a PG. PG is - arguably - the most important player on a team. How are fans supposed to make balanced pre-season evaluations between players and teams if they are being mis-informed? They can't! How can DeCourcy himself evaluate teams when he doesn't recognize that GV's PG generalship was a major factor behind a team with mediocre personell beating UNC and Michigan State. GV deserves props as a PG. DeCourcy may think it's legitimate for sports writters to play the role of NBA scout to rate GV higher, but to me he's side-stepping his job.
