Maryland vs Virginia, The Quest For Mediocrity

The headline says it all I think.  The Terps have limped through the ACC Season and are surely poised to be left out of the NCAA yet again. The only April excitement for us is whether or not five-star recruit Dwayne Morgan will choose the Terps on April 5th.

It's incredibly frustrating for fans but I think the program is on the way up. This team has just too much youth and too many flaws. It makes quality road wins just about impossible.  The last shot is today vs UVA.

A win guarantees Maryland nothing.  The Terps need to win the ACCT to get into the Dance now.

Maryland vs Virginia

The importance of today's game can't be overstated. The Terps are likely going to fighting for the 5th at-large ACC bid with the Cavaliers.  That means that Maryland must at a minimum split the series with them. Virginia is coming off a 37-point drubbing of Clemson. Yes, 37 points.  UVA has had a relatively weak non-conference schedule (much li [...] Read More »

Terps Crush Hokies, 94-71

In the history of Maryland basketball, the Terps have had better ACC openers, but I don't remember them. Granted, Virginia Tech is not Duke, but good teams (dare I say great?) blow out average teams and that's what happened today at the Comcast Center. What a dominant performance! Watching the game, you never got the sense that the Hokies ever h [...] Read More »

Terps Host Virginia Tech

The Terps have just finished a brutal three-game stretch and came up empty handed.  Not a pelt to speak of.  There were some encouraging moments and some discouraging ones.  Terps hung in against FSU, Temple, and Duke.  In fact, most of those games were close to even with 10 minutes left to play. The Terps collapsed each time.  In my view, [...] Read More »

West Virginia Recap and Meet Charles Mitchell

Yesterday's loss was brutal.  It was brutal because the Terps valiantly fought back from 24 points down only to have our best player throw an AWFUL pick to end the game. Sure, there are plenty of positives to take away from the game (defense played well in the second half, Terps ran the ball well and moved down the field with ease of the last 3 [...] Read More »

Maryland vs West Virginia Game Thread

The Terps head into to today's pivotal tilt with the Mountaineers a bit underhanded.  As has been widely reported; the Terps will be without their top two wideouts.  Messrs. Tyler and McCree have been suspended indefinitely. Will the offense click with the same precision?  It had better if the Terps are to beat the #18 team in the country.  A wi [...] Read More »

Terps Squander Stoglin's Mastery

For all intents and purposes, the season is now over.  NIT here we come.  Adrian Bowie, Cliff Tucker, and Sean Mosley have gotten worse as the season has progressed.  They have been terrible in this last stretch of games. Despite their dreadful performances; the Terps were in this game to the end thanks to the dazzling play of Terrell Stoglin.  [...] Read More »

Virginia Tech Thread

Sorry that I'm late getting the thread up; it's been a busy day at the office.  The Terps need to win their games.  That's the bottom line. Maybe tonight's the night they find some momentum.  Who knows?  It's an opportunity to get a little revenge.  Hopefully, the smell of Cliff Tucker's decomposing corpse won't interfere with their play.  We'll fi [...] Read More »

West Virginia Recap - They Were Who We Thought They Were

James Franklin and Ralph Friedgen are geniuses.  Here was the game plan they devised late Friday night:OK, we'll let the Mountaineers get out to a 28-point lead by looking listless on defense and totally inept on offense.  Then, just when West Virginia lets its guard down; we'll remember that we have one of the best receivers in the ACC on our team [...] Read More »

Maryland - West Virginia Preview and Game Thread

Tomorrow, Morgantown, West Virginia will be site where the future of the 2010 season will be determined for the Terrapins.  It is the ultimate swing game.  A win, and the Terps are heading towards 5-0 (home vs. FIU and Duke are wins).  A loss, and it is back to the slog. In some ways, this season has already defied expectations.  Already, Maryland [...] Read More »
