Meet The Terrapins: 7 New Basketball Recruits

Fresh faces and fresh hope. It is that time again when the Terrapins make their offers and the players say yay or nay. This year we are able to induce six brand new Terps players for the basketball team. They are, in alphabetical order, Seth Allen, Logan Aronhalt, Sam Cassell Jr., Shaquille Cleare, Damonte Dodd, Jake Layman and Charles Mitchell. S [...] Read More »

Logan Aronhalt Transfer To Maryland

University of Albany shooting guard Logan Aronhalt has transferred to the Maryland.  He's entering as a grad student and thus will be eligible right away.  Aronhalt is sharpshooter who has consistently hit 35% of his threes the last two seasons.  He's 6'3" and will definitely help with scoring. The Terps desperately need proven scorers in the w [...] Read More »

NU Wildcats?

As the only BCS conference member still waiting to dance, Northwestern University's Wildcats (NU) may look like a cupcake B10 matchup come November. But with 4 straight NIT appearances maaaybe they're worth a second look. Coach Bill Carmody, former Princeton coach, has 13 seasons under his belt with mostly forgettable results(until recently). NU h [...] Read More »

Sam Cassell Jr Re-ups With Maryland

It's a great day for Maryland as Sam Cassell Jr made it official before the tipoff of the Capitol Classic this evening.  Turgeon will now have s 7 new players suiting up for Midnight Madness.   Smotrycz won't play during the season but the rest will.  I expect Sam Jr to play a big role.  His improved dramatically each year he's been a prep and [...] Read More »

Michigan Transfer Evan Smotrycz To Take Official Visit To Maryland

Apparently, Michigan sophomore starting forward Evan Smotrycz is fed up with UM that he wants to transfer to UM.  Smotrycz (no idea how to pronounce his name) helped lead Michigan to the NCAA Tournament this year.  He averaged 7.7ppg, shot 43% 3PT and nabbed 4.9rpg.  He's narrowed his choices to Maryland, Providence, and Colorado. At 6'9", Smotry [...] Read More »

Sam Cassell Jr Commits To Terps

Today, the final tickets to the 2012 Final Four were punched, and perhaps, the Terps took the first step to getting back there.  Sam Cassell Jr, a slick combo guard with fabulous blood lines became a Terp today. Mark Turgeon now has six committed recruits for 2012. With Cassell, they now have two guards (Allen and SCJ), three forwards (Mitchell, D [...] Read More »

Meet Ian Baker

The Terps seem to finally be addressing the gaping hole at the point guard slot next year.  Yes, Pe'Shon Howard will be back and (presumably) healthy; but Turgeon needs a floor general who can get all of next year's assets involved in the halfcourt.  Baker might not be the immediate answer; but he is a high major project who decommitted from S [...] Read More »

Terps Attempt Dragonslaying vs UNC And Charles Mitchell Commits

Today was a great day for the Terps.  Maryland played what was arguably its most complete game of the season beating Wake Forest by 20 points.  The bigger story is, of course, that the Terps nabbed their third Top 100 recruit of the class in Charles Mitchell. Mitchell is a 6'8" 250lb power forward.  He'll give us the kind of depth in the frontcou [...] Read More »

Terps End Regular Season Vs Virginia

The Terps limp into the season finale against Virginia today.  Consecutive road losses have damaged what by most accounts has been a successful first season for Mark Turgeon. A win today would put a nice little bow on the year. A loss and I think we'll all have a bad taste in our mouths that the ACC Tournament is not likely to fix. The Terps jus [...] Read More »
