Phew! Terps Escape Raliegh With A Win

2/17/2010 9:36:52 PM The Terps had every reason to call it quits at halftime tonight. Down 10 points and playing their 3rd game in 5 days; lesser teams would have folded. Gary was able to rally the troops despite the adversity.  In particular, Greivis Vasquez, Jordan Williams, Adrian Bowie, and Dino Gregory all made key plays to lead the comeback.

Dino had the block heard round the mid-Atlantic seaboard.  It spurred a fast break that cut the State lead to six and the Terps never looked back.

What can I say about Mr. Bowie? I've been incredibly critical of his play this year; but those two threes were massive.  On a night when Eric Hayes had the off-night of off-nights; Adrian really came through.  I still shudder when I think about him as our starting PG next year, but for tonight; I'm all about Mr. Adrian Bowie.

Jordan Williams is a star in the making.  He is dominating teams and he still has not perfected his low post game or his free throw shooting.  19 points and 11 boards.  He is all Terp fans could have hoped for and more.

Greivis Vasquez is playing the best basketball of anyone I've seen in a Terp uniform since Juan Dixon.  There I said it.  Prove me wrong.  Since the Wake Forest game (where he was heavily criticized by me and others); he has emerged as the player we all hoped he would one day become.  He is still good for a couple WTF shots during a game; but he is doing everything else at such a high level that it hardly matters.  He willed Maryland to victory tonight.

Not every good team would have won a game like tonight; BUT only a good could win a game like tonight.  The Terps just wanted it more.  They wanted it more because they believe that there are special moments that lie ahead for them.

Now the Terps sit at 18-7, 8-3.  They have surpassed last year's ACC win total and have two home games on the slate. 10-3 is within reach.  Georgia Tech and Clemson represent stiff tests; but the Terps and a raucous Comcast Center should prove equally, if not more difficult for the Jackets and Tigers to overcome.

I believe in this team and because of that; I'm putting the following the three letters at the end of this post:
