Maryland vs Virginia

2013-02-10T09:05:06.547 The importance of today's game can't be overstated. The Terps are likely going to fighting for the 5th at-large ACC bid with the Cavaliers.  That means that Maryland must at a minimum split the series with them.

Virginia is coming off a 37-point drubbing of Clemson. Yes, 37 points.  UVA has had a relatively weak non-conference schedule (much like Maryland) but they've also had some nice wins (Wisconsin, NC St, UNC).  Today's game will, at best, be a grind.

UVA likes to play games in the 50s and 60s. Unfortunately, the Terps lack of consistency has meant that Maryland has recently been playing games in that range as well.

The bottom line for Maryland is that they must stop the turnover parade and start hitting free throws. The magic number is less than 15 turnovers.  I think the Terps will win most games where they are able stay under that number.

A win and Maryland will be 18-6 with momentum heading into a massive opportunity game against Duke. a 2-0 homestand and Maryland could be looking at the Top 25.
