Maryland renews its relationship with Baltimore tonight when they take on UNC-Charlotte tonight at Royal Farms Arena.
Royal Farms Arena was outdated in the 1980s when I used to go to Wrestlemania events there. The fact that it remains an outgoing concern in a top 25 market like Baltimore defies explanation. It's easily the worst multi-purpose civic arena in the United States. But I digress.
The Terps come off their customary finals break for their last tune up before the Big Ten season starts. Charlotte is a classic mid major but doesn't have the horses to challenge the Terps.
I'd like to see Maryland build on their most complete performance of these cupcake games the last time out. Continued improvement from Cekovsky is critical and Terps need to show some consistency from 3PT and better rebounding.
They ease into the Big Ten with winnable games against Illinois and Nebraska but then it is into the hopper with a road test at Michigan and home against top 20 Indiana.
They need to be hitting their stride. Let's hope Charlotte helps with that.
