The Terps have notched their two most impressive wins of the season in the last week. They are growing into themselves.
The last few minutes of the Indiana game were instructive in terms of how far they've come.
During the final 10 minutes, Melo tried to singlehandedly get Maryland back on top. It wasn't working. He'd get into the lane and couldn't finish. A miss or he'd back hacked with no call. It was the freshman who willed the Terps to victory.
The last minute was the Kevin Huerter show. Down two, he drained a clutch three to give Maryland the lead. On the ensuing Indiana possession, he grabbed a rebound and within an instant the ball was past half court dropping right into Anthony Cowan's hands. Terps up three. It was a game-winning pass. How many freshman in the country have the wherewithal to make it?
Cowan played great defense on Blackmon in the final minutes and Justin Jackson was just Justin Jackson. These freshman are special.
It's a little concerning that Melo tried to take over when he should have tried to get everyone involved. In the end, they did what they needed to.
Today, will be interesting. The Terps trounced Illinois on 12/27 but the Illini just dominated Michigan mid week. Road games are NEVER easy and today won't be.
We just need to grind through these winnable road games.
