Maryland squeaked by American last night. They never led by more than 7 points and trailed late in the second half.
Many will point to working in 3 new freshman, a grad transfer, and a shooting guard who hadn't played in 20 months while recuperating from a knee injury, but I will counter with: it was American University (12-19 last season)
Yes #18 UConn lost to Wagner last night and #7 Xavier won by only 3 against their cupcake but this win looked all too familiar to me.
Tons of turnovers, no real plan on offense, poor perimeter defense. It feels like last year all over again.
I know they will get better and we'll find out more when we play Georgetown next week so I'm not panicking. I'm just frustrated. I do not see Melo playing at a high level and his contributions will be the difference between a good season and a disastrous one
On a positive note, I thought all three freshman showed real skill and LG Gill will be a contributor.
Oh and Ohio State is going to roll Maryland on the football field this afternoon. Enjoy!
