#19 Maryland vs Penn State

The Terps pulled out a close one on Wednesday against a capable and talented Indiana squad.  It was the first game in nearly a month where Maryland's big three all played well. Damonte Dodd reemerged as a defensive presence and Jared Nickens finally found his stroke.  All of that translated into a win despite the Terps giving up 15 offensive rebounds and turning the ball over 13 times. All of the ills have not been fixed but it feels like the Terps may have turned the corner from their horrid form of late.

The Terps need to prove they can do this on the road.  They haven't played a competitive game on the road since early January.  Penn State is decidedly beatable.  At any given time, the Terps will have 5 of the best 6 players on the court wearing red. Simply put, this is a crucial road game.  Maryland can't afford to drop games like this.

#19 Maryland vs Indiana

Somehow Maryland is still a ranked a team.  They haven't played well in nearly a month and there is no indication that anything is close to changing. The team has fallen behind by 10+ in the first half in 4 of their last 5 games.  Nothing is going right.  The defense is disjointed.  The offense is a mess. Tomorrow's game against Indiana is crit [...] Read More »

#17 Maryland vs Iowa

Maryland beat Penn State this week but it was hardly a resounding win.  Penn State went toe to toe with the Terps.  A month ago, Maryland probably wins the game by 15 points but things are a bit different now. With so many freshman logging crucial minutes, the Terps have hit a bit of a trough.  Melo Trimble is the straw that stirs the drink and [...] Read More »

#17 Maryland vs Penn State

The Terps have been stewing for a week as they try to work the stink off from the Ohio State debacle.  It's a pivotal time for Maryland and Coach Turgeon.  The Terps clearly lost some of their mojo during the most recent three game stretch.  Indiana shot the lights out.  Northwestern took us to the brink at home.  Ohio State blew us out of Colu [...] Read More »

Terps Mauled In Columbus

How bad was it?? We will drop out of the top 25 with a blowout loss on national tv. no doubt there. 3 straight games with double-digit deficits in the second half. No inside play at all. the big 3 (Layman, Melo and Wells) shot 7 for 30. 7 for 30. The whole team quit at the under 8 timeout. They have to sit with this loss for a week. If they [...] Read More »

#16 Maryland vs Ohio State

The Terps will have their hands full tonight.  Road games in the B1G are a grind.  The officiating has been universally horrible with a bias towards the home team.  The teams fish in similar talent pools so pulling out road wins is a rarity.  Maryland has had good success but only when the defense is playing at an elite level.  The last two gam [...] Read More »

#8 Maryland vs Northwestern

Maryland is licking its wounds after a pounding at Indiana.  The Hoosiers shot 68% from three on 22 attempts.  That is an unbelievable rate of success.  While the Terps got pasted by 19 points, there is reason to believe that the Hoosiers played out of their minds and probably would have beaten anyone on Thursday. If Indiana had merely hit 40% of t [...] Read More »

#8 Maryland vs #23 Indiana

Maryland played one of their most complete games of the year on Saturday.  The Terps whipped a motivated Michigan State squad.  It's becoming clearer that the Terps are at their best when Melo Trimble and Jake Layman are the top scoring options.  Dez Wells has been the #1 option for the last two years but the offense just doesn't perform as wel [...] Read More »

#14 Maryland vs Michigan State

Today's game should be a barn burner.  The Terps had perhaps the win of the season with their double OT win at Michigan State. The Spartans and Coach Izzo were decidedly unhappy with the result.  With a week to prepare and in desperate need of a signature win, I expect Michigan State to give the Terps their best shot. At 16-2, the Terps are play [...] Read More »

#14 Maryland vs Rutgers

On paper, the home game against Rutgers should be the easiest game on Maryland's remaining schedule. That was until Rutgers beat the #4 team in the nation, Wisconsin on Sunday. In college basketball, anything can happen so it's hard to discount a possible upset although I highly doubt it.  Maryland has played well at home all year and Rutgers b [...] Read More »
