Dion Wiley Commits To Terps

Mark Turgeon nabbed another top 50 recruit today (no. 36 to be exact) as 2014 shooting guard, Dion Wiley committed to the Terps.  Add Wiley to fellow 2014 guard, PG Melo Trimble, and the Terps have their back court of the future in place.

It's further evidence that Coach Turgeon has created a new level of expectations for the caliber of talent we should expect to commit to Maryland.  Wiley's verbal commitment is also a statement about landing the state's top talent.  In year's past, players like Wiley would often escape to the Big East or the rest of the ACC.  No more.

Dion Wiley's AAU Coach, Keith Stevens, said that Wiley is the "one of the best shooters" he's "ever coached".

Now ain't that a great way to head into the weekend!

Bye Bye Alex Len

In a move the surprises absolutely no one, Alex Len is going declare himself eligible for the NBA Draft.  We've known this was going to happen back in November.  He will leave a large hole to fill, but Chuck Mitchell and Shaq Cleare are up to the challenge. I wish Alex the best although I'd be surprised if he sees the court much over the next tw [...] Read More »

Pe'Shon Howard To Transfer

I can't say that this news comes as a shock but Pe'Shon Howard has played his last game in a Maryland uniform.  On one hand, I'm sad because Howard is a great kid who caught a few bad breaks with injuries.  On the other hand, I think that his departure is a signal that Turgeon intends to upgrade the PG position NEXT SEASON. Yes, freshman Rod [...] Read More »

NIT Semifinals - Terps v Iowa

Perhaps this is a bad question to ask on the eve of the NIT Semifinals; but I'm wondering what Terp fans prefer the most?  A first round loss in the NCAA Tournament or the NIT Championship?  For me, it's all about getting to the Dance; but the merits of a deep run in the NIT are clear:  freshman and sophomores get a taste of the postseason agai [...] Read More »

NIT Quarterfinals: Maryland vs Alabama

Tonight's game provides a valuable test for the Terps.  Mark Turgeon definitely wants this. I can guarantee you that.  After the season ending debacle at Virginia; the young Terps desperately need to have the experience of a road win as we look toward next season. Neutral sites are one thing, but winning  on the road is the difference between a [...] Read More »

Not In Tournament

We all knew that we would be here didn't we.  Ever since the BC loss, it was apparent that the Terps wouldn't do enough to get on the right side of the bubble.   There were plenty of frustrations along the way, but the Terps played their best basketball at the end of the season. That's encouraging. Overall, things are looking up. Yes, it's cl [...] Read More »

ACCT - Semifinal Thread

That was an epic win.  Maryland hadn't beaten Duke in the ACC Tournament since the Finals in 2004 aka, "the Gilchrist Tournament".  Dez Wells seems to be channeling him at the moment. Whoever we play, the Terps have sowed the seeds for future success with today's win.  A loss in the semis would be disappointing; but we should be happy for what t [...] Read More »

ACCT Maryland vs Duke

Duke always seems to stand in the way don't they?  This Terps team is incredibly flawed.  We've chronicled it ad nauseum on this site.  Still, we'll show up tonight at 7pm hoping against hope that the Terps can turn in a performance in Greensboro that we haven't seen in a decade. This would be a fantastic time to put it together wouldn't it? [...] Read More »

ACCT - Wake vs Maryland

Welcome to irrelevance. This game is on no one's radar.  The winner will simply be fodder for the Ryan Kelly - Duke juggernaut.  I assume it will be us.  The Terps can beat a poor Wake squad any day.  I will not be looking forward to the Duke game.  They will crush us. It will be painful. [...] Read More »
