Double Thread- Basketball: Maryland vs Marshall; Football: Maryland vs Penn State

The basketball team has their first real test this afternoon. For the Terps, there is an opportunity to creep into the top25 with a win. Somehow, that is a possibility. Maryland has looked the part at times, but at others, they have looked very pedestrian. The Terps have the 319th ranked 3PT shooting team in the nation. It downright atrocious. The fact that they are sniffing the top 25 is surprising but they really have played anyone.

Enter Marshall. In a scheduling oddity, Marshall and Maryland have shared three common opponents in 5 games. Both teams have played NCA&T, Mount St Mary’s and Hofstra. Marshall enjoyed similar success against those teams to Maryland’s performance.  All that indicates that the Terps will have their hands full. It won’t help that Comcast will be nearly empty with a late afternoon Black Friday start time.

Let’s hope the Terps squeak it out and aren’t looking ahead to UVA.

Maryland vs Mount St. Mary’s

The one time I miss putting up a game thread and the Terps have one of the most epic football games in their history. Of course we lost. We can’t nice things anymore. I don’t know why. That’s just the way it is. The last thing I’ll say is that the football team would have two more wins had Piggy been starting all year(Temple and Indiana). Now, [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Hofstra

The Terps take on Hofstra tonight in another prep game. Let’s hope they continue to show improvement shooting the ball. The Big Ten appears to be much improved as our conference has looked good so far against good competition this week. Michigan thumped Nova and Iowa led wire to wire against Oregon. Our Terps are young and they are going to be [...] Read More »

Maryland vs North Carolina A&T

There are basically two perspectives to have coming out of Maryland’s first two games: This team can’t shoot and it’s going to be a long year. This team is going to be good once they start hitting from outside. Two games in, I am bending towards to optimism but the last few season indicate that they aren’t going to be a great shooting [...] Read More »

Double Thread: Maryland vs XXXX (BB) and Maryland vs. Indiana (FB)

In basketball, the Terps opened their season this week in less than resounding fashion eking out a 6-point win against minnow Delaware. The Terps had a 20 point lead at halftime but things went off the rails when Bruno got into foul trouble. Clearly, that's going to be a concern all year. Bruno is a player with no replacement and the Terps quickly [...] Read More »

Basketball Opener: Maryland vs Delaware

It’s basketball season! It’s finally year and boy do we need a distraction from football. Turgeon has another young but talented team. The veterans are where you want them to be: PG and C. The goal as always is to make a run in the Tournament but Turgeon needs to prove he get into the Dance with regularity first.  He hasn’t [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Michigan State

This week has been awful. Our university has become a topic of national discussion in the worst possible way and its leaders have besmirched the great reputation of our beloved school. DJ Durkin’s dismissal has opened up the debate over a new coach and its hard to imagine that the Terps will bring in a big name. The athletic department is in d [...] Read More »

DJ Durkin To Return As Head Coach

DJ is returning to the program. I’m speechless and frankly don’t understand the decision. The Report’s findings indicated that there was “ongoing dysfunction” in the athletic department and the training staff’s mistakes contributed to Jordan McNair’s death. I can’t fathom how those findings square with Damon Evans and DJ Durkin keeping their jobs. [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Illinois

The Terps are still playing games. This despite the fact that they have no passing game whatsoever. A win tomorrow and Maryland will be one game away from bowl eligibility. That’s hard to fathom given how one-dimensional they but it is a fact nonetheless. Illinois is truly dreadful and can’t really beat anyone outside of Rutgers in the Big Ten. [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Iowa

He we are. This is a game that can define Maryland’s season. Iowa is a good football and Maryland is flying a long way to play them but the Hawkeyes are not an elite team. Over the last few years, that hasn’t mattered much. As we now know, any good team that it is not coached by Tom Herman generally just rolls through the Terps. Maybe today wi [...] Read More »
