Women's Final Four: Terps vs Notre Dame

Today's thread is about the Lady Terps quest to slay the undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Gary Williams's selection to be inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame.  This is the big one. He'll be enshrined with all of the greats.  Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, John Wooden, Dean Smith, Gary Williams.  That's amazing. It's great for Gary and great for Maryland.

Now onto to the task at hand.  The Terps have their work cut out for them.  Notre Dame is undefeated.  The Terps can play with them.  Notre Dame beat MD 87-83 earlier this season.  Maryland won't be afraid.

Alissa Thomas and Lexie Brown have been on a mission this Tournament.  I expect them to give Notre Dame all they can handle.

With a win, Brenda Frese can solidify her status as a Hall of Fame caliber coach.

Four Questions For Mark Turgeon

It's hard to overstate how bitterly disappointing this past basketball season was for Maryland alumni and fans.  The team did not make any of the expected gains and wound up far away from any of the goals they set at the beginning of the season. Mark Turgeon is the leader and face of the program.  As such, the successes and failures fall on his [...] Read More »

Gary Williams Elected To National Collegiate Hall Of Fame

The headline says it all and it's long overdue.  Congratulations Gary! Now the Collegiate  Hall of Fame is different from the more revered and better known Naismath Basketball Hall of Fame.  Gary is also eligible for induction into that as well. [...] Read More »

Terps Basketball 2014 Outlook

I can't recall any time since 1990 with the exception of 1996 (the year after Joe Smith left) where I wasn't excited about the Maryland's prospects for the upcoming basketball season.  There was always a reason for optimism.  Either new recruits coming in or the anticipation of existing players getting better; the future always looked bright.  Unti [...] Read More »

ACC Tournament 2nd Round; Maryland vs Florida State

The Season has come down to the next four days.  Hopefully, Maryland will have games to play this weekend so the diehards get one last hurrah before we head off to the Not In Tournament.  For that to happen, Maryland needs to beat Florida State today. Both teams are desperate.  Florida State still fancies at-large hopes.  If the Seminoles can ma [...] Read More »

Maryland Gets Off The Schnide, Beats #5 UVA

It finally happened.  The Terps closed out a close game.  Sure, they nearly blew it in the final sequence of regulation, but they were able to regain their composure and win the game.  That hasn't happened all season. Credit the whole team for playing their roles.  Shaq Cleare had a crucial rebound tip.  Allen and Wells penetrated at will down t [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Virginia

Maryland is talented enough to beat Virginia today but they won't.  The reason of course is that Virginia believes in themselves and Maryland does not. The staggering number of close games that Maryland has lost this season is cause for alarm. When the game is close down the stretch, the Terps lose their shape completely.  It becomes an offensiv [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Virginia Tech

Maryland continues to limp along toward the end of the season. The Clemson loss would be demoralizing if it wasn't so predictable.  Quite simply, it is the most frustrating season in Recent memory. The team does not believe in itself.  The last three minutes of a close game are a free for all. Turgeon is at fault for this. The team has not impro [...] Read More »

Maryland @ Clemson

This team has been so disappointing this season and we've reached the point where the NCAA Tournament has become nothing but a dream.  The Terps have played their way out of the dance regardless of what happens with the last three games.  Nevertheless, the games will be played and Maryland should be able to beat a team like Clemson.  Clemson ha [...] Read More »

Disappointment. Frustration. Resignation. Apathy. Terps.

I apologize to everyone for not getting a thread up today. It was a pretty wild day for me that included a trip to the ER.  All is good but the Syracuse thread became a casualty. Since we've all seen the result of the game now, we can discuss how far we've fallen this year.  Zero signature wins this season.  A non-existent frontcourt.  A wild Ni [...] Read More »
