Maryland vs Nebraska

Nebraska comes to town fresh off an impressive road victory at Indiana. The Terps are better than Nebraska and should beat them regardless of the Huskers midweek performance.

There's a lot at stake for Maryland. A win and they will surely be ranked in the Top 25. Also, as evidenced by indiana's inconsistency and Michigan State's many losses, the conference is up for grabs. Getting off to a good start in conference is critical.

Tough games loom in the next two weeks as a trip to Ann Arbor is on tap next weekend and Indiana comes to College  Park shortly thereafter.

The Terps can't afford to give away wins at home to the likes of Nebraska.

It's becoming clear that the Big Ten is not very good this year. The Terps may need 11 conference wins to get a tourney bid. Every game matters.

It's been a great season so far. No top 25 wins but 13-1 is outstanding and there is no reason why it can't be 14-1

Happy New Year everyone!

Maryland vs Illinois

The Terps open up Big Ten play this afternoon against Illinois at the Comcast Center. If you been following Maryland this year and you think this will be an easy victory; you're kidding yourself. No wins in the Big Ten will be "easy" for Maryland.  The Terps have shown a tenacity that I've rarely seen in all my years following the program, but [...] Read More »

Gameday: Quick Lane Bowl - Maryland vs BC

The Terps play in the venerable Quick Lane Bowl this afternoon in glorious Detroit, Michigan. Maryland and BC are the envy of the sports world as they prepare to take the Field in a cavernous NFL stadium that will be at 25% capacity. I don't have an answer but the NCAA needs to figure out how to make these bowl games more meaningful. For the l [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Charlotte

Maryland renews its relationship with Baltimore tonight when they take on UNC-Charlotte tonight at Royal Farms Arena. Royal Farms Arena was outdated in the 1980s when I used to go to Wrestlemania events there. The fact that it remains an outgoing concern in a top 25 market like Baltimore defies explanation. It's easily the worst multi-purpose [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Jacksonville State

The Terps are pathetic 14-point favorite against Jacksonville State tonight. Who can blame the oddsmakers? Maryland has yet to put together 40 solid minutes of basketball despite their gaudy 9-1 record. Saturday's game against St. Peter's was particularly frustrating. The Terps played their best first half of the season and even extended that [...] Read More »

Maryland vs St. Peter's

Despite another tepid first half, the Terps looked like a power conference team Wednesday night as they ran away from Howard in the second half and cruised to 20+ point win. It was their first blowout win against a D-1 opponent this season. Mikael Cekovsky led the way with 16 points. He displayed a couple of great low post moves and ran the fl [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Howard

The Terps will have a tough time coming up with an encore to follow Saturday night's thrilling win over Oklahoma State at the Comcast Center. In what is now becoming routine, the Terps overcame a 12-point deficit to win in the closing seconds.  It was the 4th time this season that the Terps overcame a deficit of 9 points or greater (Towson, Ge [...] Read More »

Maryland vs Oklahoma State

Tonight's tilt between the Terps and visiting Oklahoma State Cowboys is critical for Maryland. The Terps lost themselves in the first half against Pitt on Tuesday and desperately need to the right the ship against a quality opponent before the cupcakes invade Comcast.  On Tuesday, the Pitt zone flummoxed the young Terps and the Panthers went o [...] Read More »

ACC / Big Ten Challenge: Maryland vs Pitt

Maryland takes on Pitt in the ACC/B1G Challenge tonight at the Comcast Center. The Terps return home from an incredibly successful (and stressful) holiday weekend trip to Brooklyn. An OT win over Richmond and a one-point victory vs Kansas State punctuated what could be a season defining moment for the Terps. Thanks in large part to Melo T [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Rutgers and Maryland vs Kansas State

Double thread today as the football team attempts to become bowl eligible and the basketball team plays in the finals of the Barclays Center Classic. The basketball team escaped with a win last night thanks to a great second half in which the Terps overcame an 12-point deficit. Melo Trimble led the way but all three freshman contributed n [...] Read More »
