Gameday: Maryland vs Howard

There is a lot of anticipation surrounding this year’s football squad. Coach Locks has done a fantastic job bringing in new recruits and some exciting transfers and that has created a palpable sense of excitement. We won’t learn much about the team today, however. Howard is dreadful and the only things we’ll learn will be on the negative side. Anything short of a blowout would be pretty scary. To that end, this game is simply a tune up for the rest of the season.

3/14/19 Big Ten Tournament Thread

Maryland knows it’s first two opponents as the Big Ten Tourney  kicks off today in Chicago. Nebraska lost twice to Maryland this year but that doesn’t meet it will be an easy win for the Terps. Nebraska’s season will end today with a loss so that means we will get their best effort. Palmer went for 34 against Rutgers so containing him will be [...] Read More »

3-3-19 #9 Michigan vs #19 Maryland

Having three kids and working is catching up to me. I’ve missed posting the last two game threads. Not today! What a big game! The Terps predictably had a tough time on the road against a hot Penn State team. Today is the chance to right the ship against a top 10 team at home. The Terps will be celebrating 100 years of basketball and ther [...] Read More »

2/20/19 #24 Maryland vs #20 Iowa

Looking back to the beginning of this brutal 5 game stretch, I thought that the Terps could go 3-2 but that it would all hinge on the Iowa game. Here we sit at 2-2 over the stretch as we head into Iowa City. This game is winnable but Iowa has proven that you can’t leave it to the final possession to beat them. Maryland must win going away which mea [...] Read More »

2/16/19 #24 Maryland vs #6 Michigan

Apologies. Business travel got the best of me and missed putting up a thread for the biggest game of the year. And what a game it was! The Terps put together their best half of the season and won going away down the stretch against 12th ranked Purdue. The Terps are rounding into shape and are now a balanced team that is hitting on all cylinder [...] Read More »

2/6/19 #24 Maryland vs Nebraska

Maryland heads to Omaha tonight after an all too familiar loss in Madison on Friday. The Terps endured a prolonged scoring drought and allowed the Badgers to take the lead and pull away down the stretch. The big ten is a very tough conference this year but the pattern is disturbing. On paper, there is a significant talent gap between the Terps [...] Read More »

2/1/19 #21 Maryland vs Wisconsin

This game is big. Maryland is embarking on a very difficult 5 game stretch and getting it off on the right foot would be a statement. It won’t be easy. Wisconsin rarely loses at home, they haven’t lost overall since Maryland beat them last month, and they don’t turn the ball over. Last month, Maryland looked like the better team for the vast maj [...] Read More »

1/29/19 #21 Maryland vs Northwestern

After this past weekend’s ignominious loss to Illinois, the Terps are out of mulligans. They must win games against teams like the Wildcats because the schedule gets really difficult after tonight. Maryland is in desperate need of a bounce back win with a big road trip on the horizon at Wisconsin and Northwestern. [...] Read More »

#13 Maryland vs Illinois

Maryland “hosts” Illinois today at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is great for Terp fans in the New York area (of which there are many) and a nice showcase for the program in the world’s most famous arena. However, it’s hard to imagine Maryland ever giving up a home game in college park back in the old ACC days. It’s a testament to how muc [...] Read More »

1/21/19 Maryland vs Michigan State

Heading into this 5 game stretch two weeks ago, I said the Terps needed to go 3-2. Now with only one game remaining over this brutal stretch, the Terps are 4-0. They’re prospects are soaring with some predicting the Terps land a top 4 seed in the Tournament.  And now, the unthinkable. Can the Terps run the table? A win in East Lansing seems [...] Read More »
