Gameday: Maryland vs Michigan State

The last two weeks have proven that DJ Durkin has a long road ahead. The talent on the roster is just not good enough to compete with most of the Big Ten.

It's going to take time to undo all the damage that Randy Edsall did during his tenure. As evidence, we can look at all the true freshman that are making an impact this season. Unfortunately, they are ready to compete consistently the way upperclassmen do. It's likely going to take two years to be truly competitive.

Now, injuries are piling up. Heartbreakingly, the team announced that Will Likely tore his ACL and is done for the year. Just awful. The kid needed this season to make his case for the NFL and now he will not have the chance to truly showcase his skills. I hope he sneaks into the draft anyway. He'll be a great kick returner somewhere.

Michigan State limps into town with more losses on their record at this juncture in the season then they have seen in years. Despite their struggles, they are more talented than our Terps. Maryland will fight but a win would a big surprise.

Gameday: Maryland vs Minnesota

Maryland Football came crashing down to Earth in Happy (Not Happy) Valley last weekend. The defense was overmatched and Penn State demonstrated a different level of athletic class than the Terps currently possess. Looking back, it's hard to believe that prognosticators thought the Terps could win. If Penn State had played Maryland's schedule h [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Penn State

Tomorrow's game against the Nittany Lions is arguably the biggest game Maryland has played in close to a decade. The Terps have a chance to get to 5-0 for the first time since 2001- and we all know what happened that year. The Terps are actually favored in Happy Valley which incredible when you consider the quality of opponents the Terps her f [...] Read More »

Basketball: Bruno Fernando Commits To Maryland

I know I'm a couple days late here but I was traveling for work. Fernando is a huge get for the Terps.  Tons has already been written on this but for me, the headlines are that the kid is an elite athlete who has post moves and a soft touch. Diamond Stone wasn't exactly jumping out of the gym last year and that's what Bruno does. He may not be a [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Purdue

The Terps kick off the B1G season tomorrow against lowly Purdue. The Terps will be favored and they have an excellent shot at moving to 4-0. That would an exceptional start to the DJ Durkin era. Before we break out the party hats, it's important to note that Maryland was expected to win their first three given the quality of the opponent and Purdue [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs UCF

Perry Hills is the most accurate passer in the FBS. That means one of two things: 1. Gus Frerotte is the QB whisperer and Perry Hills is on his way to the NFL. 2. Maryland's competition thus far has been absolutely abysmal. Ok. It doesn't have to mean one of those two things, it can mean both right? While it's doubtful, that Hills will b [...] Read More »

Maryland vs FIU

Maryland predictably breezed through Howard last week and now it's on to an odd Friday evening kickoff with FIU.   The bullets still aren't flying for real as this is largely just another tune-up. If last week is any indication, the Terps will be a run heavy offense that tries to use establish the run to open up the passing lanes. This ma [...] Read More »

Gameday: Maryland vs Howard

The DJ Durkin era officially begins today and there is reason for excitement. The product on the field will likely be a work in progress but Durkin has had one of the best off seasons in recent memory. DJ has landed a slew of big recruits and has really turned the "DMV" movement into something. What all of that means for this year, remains to b [...] Read More »

Melo Trimble Returns For Junior Season

Terp fans got the good news they'd been hoping for when Melo Trimble announced he was returning to College Park next season. As a Terp fan, it's hard not to be elated by this news although as a Melo fan, I do feel bad for him. His slump during the back half of the year really hurt his draft stock. I hope he's able to rediscover the magic that we ha [...] Read More »

Final Verdict

That was disappointing. Reaching the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003 is something to be proud of but the Terps were capable of a lot more. The loss to Kansas was a microcosm of the larger problems that nagged the Terps all season. The offense was stone cold for a significant stretch in the second half and got outrebounded. The Jayhawks finis [...] Read More »
