Maryland takes on Pitt in the ACC/B1G Challenge tonight at the Comcast Center. The Terps return home from an incredibly successful (and stressful) holiday weekend trip to Brooklyn.
An OT win over Richmond and a one-point victory vs Kansas State punctuated what could be a season defining moment for the Terps.
Thanks in large part to Melo Trimble, the Terps have improbably Coke through in three clutch situations already this season. On Saturday, Trimble was aided by a breakout performance from Mikael Cekovsky. His 16 points provided the interior scoring Maryland needed to open things up for Trimble to drive to the hoop. It's hard not to fall for a team that never quits.
Tonight Pitt comes in and they are huge. Their backcourt averages 6'6" and they'll be going against Melo and Cowan (6'3" and 6'0" respectively). In the frontcourt, they have wide bodies.
Turgeon will have his hands full but the Terps should be able to use their quickness to keep Pitt off balance. A win and the Terps are one step closer to an undefeated non-conference schedule. A feat the looked improbable a month ago.
