Turtle Soup is a blog and forum developed for Terrapin fans all over the world to commiserate about the successes and failings of our beloved Terps.
Jeremy Gold: I was born in Baltimore, MD and I have two degrees from the University of Maryland. A BS in Finance and an MBA. My father and sister graduated from Maryland as did 90% of the significant friends in my life. It's safe to say that being a Terp is in my blood. My career has taken me to Chicago where I currently reside. I still catch most of the Terp games although you will see me occasionally gripe about not being able to get the game in Big Ten country. I started Turtle Soup in 2004. I had just graduated with my MBA and was in the process of starting my career anew. While searching for a Terps blog or message board, I was unable to find one that didn't charge a fee. So, I started one. Originally called "Herman Veal Chops" (named after a former Terp with a bit of a checkered past), Evan Brunell and the good folks at MVN found me and recruited me as a staff writer which continued until August 30, 2008 where Turtle Soup struck out on our own due to MVN closing its college sports coverage. I enjoy writing about my beloved Terps, but I am not a monolith. I also cheer for the Ravens, Orioles and Wizards. As for my day job, I work in online media for Advertising.com.
Gregg Kanner: I am a sports producer for WJBK-TV in Detroit, Michigan, but was born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I'm a huge fan of all D.C. teams and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1997. I watch all the local D.C. teams play thanks to satellite receivers at work and the NBA and NHL packages at home. I watch Comcast Sportsnet Midatlantic nearly every day. I'm up on the teams!
Ethan Rothstein: I'm a junior journalism major at Maryland, and have been a lifelong sports fanatic. I played soccer, baseball and basketball in my early years, and continued playing basketball into high school. I'm currently a reporter for TurtleSportsReport.com, which means I get to sit in the press box at the basketball and football games and talk to the players and coaches, which is cool. I'm also on the Maryland Ultimate Frisbee team. I'm a native New Yorker and a passionate Jets and Yankees fan. I am absolutely obsessed with the NBA and my favorite team is the Rockets - you can ask me why later. I've taken classes with eight of the players on the Maryland basketball team (including Greivis, Hayes and Milbourne) and played pickup basketball at the gym with James Gist, which was awesome. I'm really excited to come on board at Turtle Soup and share my thoughts on the teams from a student/beat reporter perspective.
